Wild Montana Anglers FAQ

Do I need experience fly fishing to book a trip?

You do not! We cater to all experience levels. Whether you have never touched a fly rod or if you’ve been fly fishing your whole life, we would enjoy taking you down the river. We love to introduce new anglers to the sport of fly fishing. By helping beginners overcome some of the early obstacles associated with fly fishing we feel you will quickly enjoy the sport, and hopefully become a lifelong fly angler.

How many people can come on the trip?

For our float trips, we have a limit of two anglers per boat. Our boats can comfortably accommodate two anglers and the guide. For walk and wade trips it is also preferred to have up to two anglers paired with one guide, however, a third person can be added to a walk and wade trip for an additional $95 fee. This low guide to client ratio ensures that we can provide a quality experience unique to Wild Montana Anglers.

Where are you located?

All fishing trips meet at Lary’s Fly and Supply, which is located at 604 Nucleus Ave, in beautiful Columbia Falls, Montana 59912. For information on the water that we fish, click here.

What is included in the trip?

For all fishing trips our professional guides will provide you with all the essential gear needed to fly fish. Included are fly rods and reels, flies, tackle, waders if needed, and non-alcoholic beverages. For fullday trips a great shore side lunch will also be provided.

What should I bring?

To ensure that you have a fun and comfortable time on the river we recommend bringing the following items:

  • Sunglasses
  • A hat
  • Warm layers
  • Raincoat
  • Sunscreen
  • A drinking water container

Want to bring your own fly fishing gear? Great! Just let us know and we will let our guides know they can lighten their load (they’ll still have a back-up rod, just in case).

What are the meet times and what time will we be back to the fly shop at the end of the day?

For fullday float and walk and wade trips we ask that you arrive at Lary’s Fly and Supply at 8:00 AM or earlier. For halfday walk and wade trips we ask you to arrive at the fly shop by 8:00 AM for a morning trip and 1:00 PM for an afternoon trip.
